Each season Girls on the Run Los Angeles County welcomes a dynamic group of coaches to lead each of our teams of 8-15 girls. Coaches are parents, teachers, school administrators, college students and other community members who are committed to developing and celebrating our girls.

Head Coach Overview

The Head Coach is a volunteer who works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Girls on the Run curriculum with a small group of girls. This position entails approximately 2-4 hours per week for a 10-week commitment and a lifetime of joy!

REQUIREMENTS

  • A heart for girls in 3rd-8th grade
  • Join us if you are 18+ years old

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a role model for program participants
  • Prepare, organize and supervise weekly lessons
  • Collaborate with other coaches to deliver our fun curriculum
  • Facilitate communication with parents/guardians of program participants
  • Participate in the Girls on the Run 5K
  • Plan and coordinate your team’s end of season party

Assistant Coach Overview

The Assistant Coach supports the team at a Girls on the Run program site while serving as a role model and mentor for program participants. The position entails approximately 1.5-3 hours per week for a 10-week commitment and a lifetime of confidence!

REQUIREMENTS

  • A heart for girls in 3rd-8th grade
  • Join us if you're 18+ years old

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a role model for program participants
  • Assist with all aspects of the facilitation of weekly lessons
  • Collaborate with other coaches for successful lesson delivery
  • Participate in games and workouts with the girls
  • Participate in the Girls on the Run 5K

Junior Coach Overview

The Junior Coach is a volunteer position for high school students to assist the team at a Girls on the Run program site. The position entails approximately 1.5-3 hours per week for a 10-week commitment and a lifetime of healthy habits!

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a heart for girls in 3rd-8th grade.
  • Junior Coach can join us at 16+ years old

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a role model for program participants
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down of games and lessons
  • Provide one-on-one attention to program participants
  • Participate in games and workouts with the girls
  • Lead an activity with assistance and supervision of the Head Coach if desired
  • Participate in the Girls on the Run 5K

Spring Season Runs: Feb 27 – May 26 *There's still time to join!

WHERE DO YOU NEED COACHES?

Thanks for asking!  We still need awesome coaches throughout Los Angeles County.  Here are the areas of our TOP NEEDS for 90 minutes (once or twice a week):

  1. Downtown: M/W 2:30 or 3:15

  2. Redondo Beach: T 2:45

  3. Carson: M/W 4:00

  4. Near UCLA: M/W 2:45 or 3:00

  5. Sherman Oaks: M/W 4:45

  6. Westhills: M/Th 2:45

  7. Glendale: T/Th 2:30 or 2:45

  8. Pasadena: M 3:30 or T/Th 3:00 or 3:30

  9. Diamond Bar:  W 2:30
  10. Any city where YOU want to help empower & strengthen girls!
Can I choose the site where I coach?

Of course!  We will work with all of our volunteer coaches to find a team that works best for them.

Do I need to be a runner or have mentoring experience?

Not a runner = Not a problem!  No experience = Perfect chance to learn with us!
